High School Sweethearts Wed Months After Car Accident Leaves Bride Quadriplegic

Anna Claire Waldrop and her fiancé James Waldrop were driving home from a party on Valentine’s Day 2016, when a drunk driver hit their car, changing their lives forever.

“He hit my side of the car and Jimbo flew through the sunroof,” 24-year-old Anna Claire said. “I stayed in the car, which flipped four times.”

The accident left Anna Claire quadriplegic.

“I was very scared,” said Anna Claire, who had already picked out a venue for her wedding, which was just months away. “I wondered ‘Will I ever be happy again?’ But the thought of my upcoming wedding was motivation to get better.”

After months of therapy, the high school sweethearts got married on their oringially-planned wedding date of October 22, 2016.

“It was emotional thinking about having to be in a wheelchair as a quadriplegic for my wedding, instead of everything I had always envisioned,” says Anna Claire. “But it was beautiful and I’m finally happy now.”

The couple has been dating since sixth grade. Love conquers all.
