Former Boston Red Sox pitcher Mike Timlin was at the Las Vegas Route 91 Harvest Festival when a gunman opened fire, killing at least 50 people and injuring more than 400.

Hours before the shooting, he Tweeted out a photo of his group at the concert. Later, he Tweeted again to let everyone know that he was safe.

The death toll is now the highest in modern American history. The gunman, who was shooting from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
