15. What is Project Eyewitness?
1. What kind of photos/videos are you looking for?
Project Eyewitness is looking photos and videos of recent and local news. The best photos and videos could be those taken the same day if not the same hour that the news happened. Great Project Eyewitness submissions should also be relevant to the audience of our radio station. Capturing a unique and timely view of something notable and relevant from our area is at the heart of the Project Eyewitness experience.

2. What are considered acceptable photos/videos? What’s not acceptable?
Acceptable photos/videos include photos of breaking news events that you have recently taken and deem newsworthy.

Non-acceptable photos/videos include photos of a pornographic or obscene nature, photos depicting scenes that may be morally objectionable, photos/videos that you do not own or have rights to submit to us, or any other photos/videos whose submission to us would constitute a violation of applicable law.

3. How will I know if my pictures/videos are used?
If selected, we will make an effort to notify you by e-mail, and your photo should appear within a day or two of your submission.

4. If I submit my pictures/videos to Project Eyewitness may I submit them to other news organizations? If I have previously submitted my pictures/videos to another news organization may I also submit them to Project Eyewitness?
Once you have submitted your pictures/videos to Project Eyewitness, we now own those materials so you may not submit them to other media. If you have previously submitted pictures/videos to another news organization you should check the terms and conditions of those submissions to determine whether you still have rights to the photos or videos and thus the right to submit them.

5. If my pictures/videos are not used, does that mean I still own them?
No, once you click “I Agree” to the submission terms and upload your photo/videos, we own the rights to these photos whether they are used or not.

6. Will I be paid if my picture/video is used? Will you reimburse me for my expenses?
No, there is no compensation of any kind for your photos/videos.

7. Will I get my photo/video files sent back to me?
Once submitted your files cannot be returned.

8. May I change my mind after submitting photos/videos?
No. Please read and consider all the posted terms and conditions prior to submitting your photos/videos. You will not be able to retract your submission once complete.

9. How many photos/videos can I send?
Please feel free to send as many photos or videos as you like. We would suggest that you limit your submissions to only those photos or videos that “best” capture the news event.

10. What photo/video formats are acceptable?
Photos are limited to 2 megabytes. Video is limited to 10 megabytes.

11. Will I get credit if my photo/video is used?
If your photo or video is selected, and you opt-in to have your credits appear, you will be identified as the Project Eyewitness photographer/videographer.

12. Will my photos be changed in any way?
We reserve the right, to be exercised at our discretion, to make editorial changes to the submitted items. These changes include, but are not limited to, the size and visual quality of your submitted photos or videos. We will make an effort to retain the journalistic integrity of your submission.

13. How do I know if I have legally obtained and/or own the photo/video?
As a general rule, if you personally took the photo/video and have not transferred your rights to another person or company, then you probably own the rights to the photo/video.
