About a month ago I made a stupid, stupid mistake. I had treated myself 3 weeks prior and got myself an iPad Mini, and I loved it. It made my life easier. I synced it with my phone. It was helping me stay on task, etc. etc. etc.
So one day I'm in the back yard making music videos of my 5 and 3 year old with a pretty cool video app. Suddenly the ice cream man rolls up in the neighborhood so I decide to treat the girls to an ice cream. I put the Mini on the trunk of my car, pay the ice cream man, the girls are happy, life is good.
At some point I realize I'm running late for work so I cruise out to my car and take off. It isn't until I'm almost to Medford (coming from the Quincy area) that I realize what I've done. Yup. I left the Mini on the trunk. It was no longer there. I was sad sad Jackson.
About a month has passed. Then today I'm at the store buying baby onesies for my dog (that's a whole other story) and I get a call from the Apple Store at The Cambridgeside Galleria. Turns out some guy found my Mini on the side of the road and returned it to the Apple Store to have them properly dispose of it. Jessica, who is a manager there, decided to look me up and let me know she had it. She told me that it didn't work anymore but that none of the glass was broken and it looked totally fine. Even though there were tire marks all over the cover so it had obviously been run over by multiple cars.
I went to the Apple Store and she showed it to me. Barely... any... damage. I'm sure the rain over the past 4 weeks probably killed it. Jessica was AWESOME and gave me a CRAZY deal on a replacement, which was incredibly nice and backs up why I'll always be an Apple fan. But how crazy is that?? I live in the Quincy area and it stayed on my trunk on the highway all the way through the Tip O'Neil tunnel to the Exit 26 area. To you people outside Boston that's a good 10 miles or so - in a mix of fast driving, stop-and-go traffic, and corners to get to the highway - and a month of time going by in between.
Anyway, thank you to Jessica (the super nice and generous manager at the Apple Store at the Cambridgeside Galleria), the stranger who returned my iPad, and to the Academy. I can now waste my time playing Ninja Fishing again. YES!!
(Oh yeah... the picture up top is the cover off my old Mini... which I'm now using again.)
