(Yahoo!) - Taylor Swift took the time to visit a young cancer patient in the hospital over the weekend while she was in Omaha, Nebraska.

Lauren Hacker, 10, has acute myelocytic leukemia, and her loved ones created a YouTube video set to Swift's "You Belong With Me" to urge the star to acknowledge her young, ailing fan. They called their campaign filled with posters, cards, videos, and more "Lolo Thunder" … and acknowledge she did.

Around 1 p.m. on Saturday, Swift stopped by Omaha's Children's Hospital & Medical Center and spent nearly an hour with the family, sharing personal stories and even playing music together, according to Lauren's father Phil Hacker's blog post on CaringBridge.

"Taylor was very impressed with both performances," Phil said. "I don't mean 'polite impressed.' I mean 'real impressed.'"

Before she left, Swift posed for photos with Lauren and showered her with a few treats.

"Taylor got out a bag of goodies for Lauren and provided autographs on notebooks, photographs, and guitar picks," Phil wrote. "Finally, she signed a special autograph to Jonathan [Lauren's brother] on the front of the ukulele. It was a great afternoon for everyone and I'm sure Lauren will remember it for many years to come."

A few days later, the family of the fifth grader was still gushing.
