The Anne Frank House is putting its support behind Justin Bieber, after the pop star drew a wave of criticism for a note he left in their guest book last week.
The pop star was accused of ignorance and narcissism when he wrote that Anne Frank was "a great girl" and that "hopefully she would have been a belieber."
A spokesperson for the Amsterdam museum now tells "Agence France Presse" they felt Bieber taking the time to visit in the first place was a "special" gesture. The museum says the young star was "very interested" and spent an hour there to learn about Frank, which is "more important than the commotion that we're now seeing."
They noted that the 19-year-old could have been doing other things during his stay in Amsterdam.
Bieber continues the European leg of his "Believe" tour this week in Copenhagen and Oslo.
