Critics and fans alike are reacting to Miley Cyrus' new sound, unveiled with her new single "We Can't Stop." Fans took the song to number one on iTunes within hours of its release on Monday.
Promoting the single across multiple social media platforms, Miley is asking fans to send her "twerk" videos, the favorites of which she'll put together for a fan video for the new song. Friends and fellow musicians like Demi Lovato and Juicy J tweeted Miley their congratulations.
"We Can't Stop" is the first solo music to come from the former Disney star since 2010. The single has been called a departure from the pop-based party anthems she's known for like "Party In The U.S.A."
Some of its lyrics are being pointed to as evidence of a much more edgy Miley. In it, she sings about people in a club "trying to get a line in the bathroom" and later about "dancin' with molly," which some are saying could be references to the use of cocaine and ecstasy.
